Micron: Shorts Are Fleeing

Short interest in Micron Technology declined once again, in spite of all the bearish narratives being peddled on investing forums.

The management teams of SK Hynix and Adata Technology expect supply/demand and pricing environment to improve over the coming months, which should benefit Micron and its shareholders as well.

The current price offers a low-risk entry point for long-side investors.

Micron (MU) has been subject of various kinds of bearish theories of late. While some believe Chinese counterparts will grab its market share over time, others believe that the dismal demand scenario in China will further drag down its share price. But a broad swath of market participants isn’t buying the fear, uncertainty and doubt. Latest data reveals that short interest in the chipmaker declined in the last reporting cycle, which should come as a relief as well as an encouraging sign for long-side investors.

Intel slides as analysts praise AMD’s roadmap

Analysts weigh in on AMD’s (AMD +12%) Computex product roadmap and a followup statement that one third-gen Ryzen chip outperformed an Intel (INTC -2.4%) CPU by more than 16%.

Stifel’s Kevin Cassidy: “This announcement represents the first time AMD has taken the desktop CPU lead process technology and performance lead from Intel in its 50-year history.”

Cassidy expects AMD to accelerate its PC market share gains through a combination of higher performance, lower power usage, and upgrade ease.

Wells Fargo’s Aaron Rakers says the “presentation reinforced our positive thesis on AMD’s product cycle/sustainable share gain story looking into 2H2019.”

AMD will release new Radeon RX 5700-series graphics cards in July and third-gen, Zen 2-based Epyc server chips in Q3.

AMD demonstrated the new Radeon cards outperforming rival Nvidia’s (NVDA -0.2%) cards.

Apache HTTP Server

World Wide Web Runs on Apache ~ Open Source (Free)

The Apache HTTP Server, colloquially called Apache (/əˈpætʃi/ ə-PATCH-ee), is free and open-source cross-platform web server software, released under the terms of Apache License 2.0. Apache is developed and maintained by an open community of developers under the auspices of the Apache Software Foundation.

The vast majority of Apache HTTP Server instances run on a Linux distribution,[5] but current versions also run on Windows[6] and a wide variety of Unix-like systems. Past versions also ran on OpenVMS,[7] NetWareOS/2and other operating systems.[8]

Originally based on the NCSA HTTPd server, development of Apache began in early 1995 after work on the NCSA code stalled. Apache played a key role in the initial growth of the World Wide Web,[9] quickly overtaking NCSA HTTPd as the dominant HTTP server, and has remained most popular since April 1996. In 2009, it became the first web server software to serve more than 100 million websites.[10] As of August 2018, it was estimated to serve 39% of all active websites and 35% of the top million websites.[
